Ups and Downs of My First Year Blogging
As 2007 is rapidly coming to a close, I decided to review this site’s stats for the year. I started this site back in May and have written 45 articles.
It has been an interesting learning process which I have really enjoyed. I look forward to an even better 2008.
I have put together some end of the year Highlights.

Using TubeMogul.com to Manage Multiple Video Services

If you have any video files that you publish to the web, you probably want to have them seen
by as many people as possible. This is a “Good News – Bad News” situation.
Good News: There are many services out there that will publish and host your videos for free. These are great, because they give you the opportunity to be seen by tons of people.
Bad News: Different people use different services depending on their preferences.
There is a service called TubeMogul.com that will allow you to upload and describe your video, then automatically and simultaneously post it to all of your favorite video hosting sites.

Holiday Cheer Gone Wild
The town that I just moved to this year is full of people who over decorate their houses for every holiday. Well, with Christmas time afoot the Mardi Gras of tacky decorating is taking place. My wife is a member of a local women’s group who runs an annual “House Decorating” contest. I had to drive around with her so that she could judge all of the houses in town.
Not one to miss an opportunity to capture bizarre things, I dug out the old video camera and hopped in the car. I filmed a bunch of houses and trimmed it down to some of my favorites. I needed a nice Chritmasy song, so I picked that song from the JC Penney’s commercial by The Weepies. Just to top it off, I added some commentary on some of the things that I found particularly “interesting”.
Sit back and let the holiday cheer warm you up:

28 Great Christmas Gift Ideas for the Geek in Your Life
December 9, 2007
What to Buy the Gadget Freak For Christmas
Do you have a Gadget Freak or Tech Geek in your life that is impossible to buy for? Well, this list should help you find the ultimate Christmas (Hanukkah or Kwanzaa too) gift for them this season. The list sorts gifts by Category and puts an approximate price range next to each one. There is a link to the Amazon.com page for each item. While Amazon has a big selection and decent prices, there are definitely other places that may be cheaper. I personally love NewEgg.com for price, selection, and speed of delivery.
Price Ranges:
Under $100 - ![]()
$100 - $250 - ![]()
$250 - $500 - ![]()

Use Smart Playlists to be an iTunes Genius
December 5, 2007
Make Smart Playlists Continuously Give You Interesting Music Selections

Do you ever get sick of listening to the same old albums or playlists on your iPod? I know I do. Well, you can use the Smart Playlist feature in iTunes to constantly generate a dynamic mix-tape of fresh music selection.
Smart Playlists are like little queries that pull anything and everything out of your iTunes library. Queries, you say? Yes, Queries.
You build a query that selects and excludes songs based on your criteria. For instance you may want to hear any Jazz music in your library, as long as it is not newer than the 60s. Well then you build a Smart playlist with those two conditions: Genre = Jazz and Year is less than 1970. Now, if you add any old Jazz songs, they will automatically be pulled into this playlist.
New Features O’ Plenty - Early Christmas for the Readers

Several New and Improved Features Added to Improve VitaminCM
I was starting to get a little frustrated with some of the site’s layout and features recently, so I decided to do a major overhaul. Over the last week or so, I tested out and deployed sever updates that should make your reading experience a little more enjoyable.
New Site Layout Template
I was getting tired of the old layout and some of the bugs that I was experiencing, so I went with this new one. I hope that it works well for you guys. I think that it is a little heavy on the ads, so I’m thinking of scaling them back soon.
New Site Navigation and Pages
I added a few new pages and relocated some of the clutter out of the sidebars. The Categories and Archives are now in drop down lists. There is also a page that list all of the categories. The Blogroll has been completely removed from the sidebar and now has its own page (Recommended Sites). I also made the About and Contact pages a little more prominent. Seriously, do contact me, I love to talk.
